In today’s market, getting global accreditation is a back-breaking task and the textile industries have bloomed up everywhere. In a global perspective, textile industries have a bigger share in the manufacturing jobs.
Millions of people are employed by them directly or indirectly. The manufacturing cost is very high, and these industries have many complicated challenges involved in the course of its operation. Buyers are in search of top-quality products with almost zero defect. Here comes the role of ISO standards, which helps in getting your business to a global level.
Benefits of ISO certification:
ISO standards will help to upgrade the quality of the raw material, which in turn strengthens the quality of the final product.
It minimizes defective supplies and reworking and will ensure your buyers an international quality of the products since the ISO certified company focuses more on the quality of its operations and products.
It helps in marketing, as it brings international accreditation to your business.
Thus ISO certification plays an important role in getting your business to a global level and also help in making your entry to the international market at an ease.
The process of certification may sound dismaying, but it is easier than you think.
Here are the procedures to be followed to get an ISO certificate:
1.CHOOSE THE RIGHT STANDARD
There are different kind of ISO Certification Standards which focus on a different aspect of the business. ISO 9001 focus quality management system which helps the organisation to enhance customer satisfaction with company product and services. Similarly ISO 14001 focus on health and safety.
If you think more than one certification that could help your business, you can do that at the same time. Completing the two certifications at the same time is a cost-effective way to do multiple certifications.
2.CHOOSING THE RIGHT CERTIFICATION BODY
It should be noted that ISO itself doesn’t provide a certificate to the establishments. Certification is done by the external bodies. Since there are many certification bodies in India, its important that you choose a recognized and credible certification body.
3.DOCUMENTATION
Certain documents are needed for getting a certification.
They are:
- Business registration proof(certificate of incorporation, GST certificate, MSME certificate, Trademark certificate etc.)
- Letterhead/Visiting card of the business you require the certification.
- Sales and Purchase Invoice, to give evidence of your business activity.
Generally, the certification body will send the application form to get the client information and after verification of the documents, they would send the quotation. After the agreement on the quotation, they will provide you with the date of stage 1 audit.
- Stage 1 audit
The stage 1 audit is straightforward. It’s just to understand your current business processes so that recommendations can be made to improve them. After the audit, they will give a full report outlining any gaps in your current procedures.
- Stage 2 audit
After all the required changes(if told any by the auditor), the ISO auditor does the final auditing. If the auditor is satisfied, they will prepare the final ISO audit report.
If everything is in place, you will be granted certification.
After the certification, you will be audited annually.
5.COST OF CERTIFICATION
The cost is not fixed for the ISO certification, it varies from organization to organization. It depends on factors like no of employees, no of the working shift, no of branches or sites of the business and complexity of the management system.
This certification helps to improve the quality of manufacturing, on-time processing, and customer satisfaction. Thus giving you a reputation in the global market.
