What exactly is the FSSAI?
The Food Standards and Safety Authority of India is the highest organization in charge of monitoring and overseeing food safety (FSSAI). The FSSAI Simple Registration is required for all businesses in the food sector.
During registration, you will be required to provide information about your firm, production scale, product segment or formulation, and so on. Food Business Operators (FBOs) are expected to notify any modifications to India’s Food Safety and Standards Authority within a reasonable length of time (FSSAI).
FSSAI food registration is required not only for those who prepare food, but also for those who handle it at many stages before it reaches the consumer, such as raw materials, manufacturing, packaging, mess, packing, and delivery of canteens, as well as those who have the right to sell it. It is required even for individuals who serve a small number of people from their homes. You must register with the FSSAI as long as you are generating money from it.
Various Types of Licenses
Businesses with an annual turnover of less than Rs.12 lakhs can apply for a Basic FSSAI Food safety registration, while those with a turnover of more than Rs.12 lakhs but less than Rs.20 lakhs can apply for a state license, and those with a turnover of more than Rs.20 lakhs can apply for a Central license.
The license can be transferred, changed, or altered.
If you want to change your FSSAI License, you must follow a certain protocol. It generally implies filing an application to change the FSSAI License or Registration. FSSAI registration is sufficient for small businesses, but an FSSAI license is required for large-scale food operations.
In the case of the FSSAI license holder’s death, the license can be handed to a legal representative or any family member of the dead holder. The legal agent or a family member must request that the certificate be transferred to the appropriate authorities in his or her name. After verification, the Authority may accept or deny the application. The FSSAI License Authority, on the other hand, cannot refuse the application without first providing the claimant a chance to be heard.
The FSSAI license will only survive the death of the bearer of the registration certificate or license if the legal agent or any family member requests for the transfer of such certificate. The FSSAI certificate expires if it is not renewed within 90 days of the holder’s registration certificate/license expiring.
