Using your Digital Signature
Digital signatures can be used in various areas like IT filling, e-tenders, and etc. For many security reasons, these digital signatures were stored in a hardware device, a Cryptographic USB Token known as ePass. The USB token can only hold your Digital Signature Certificate which is protected and you can’t store other documents or information in that.
Steps to follow:
Step 1: Download and install the e-pass 2003 token driver, before you plug in the USB token.
Step 2: In the USB port plugin, the USB token enters the password to log in. of your computer and enter the password. By choosing the “CHANGE USER PIN” option you can even change your password.
Step 3: Once when you complete signing all the documents, just unplug the USB token from the port, store it in a safe place.
Precautionary measures before using Digital Signature: It is important not to provide wrong passwords multiple times. Once it is lost there is no possibility to retrieve the key, you have to purchase a new one.
Never click the initialize/delete button in the ePass 2003 driver menu, if it clicked unknowingly then the Digital Certificate will be deleted, and the token becomes unusable.
How DSCs Work?
DSC makes use of the PKI mechanism in which two keys- Public and Private keys were generated. In this encryption and decryption process takes place, in which the signer has the private key where the receiver requires the public key to decrypt the information.
The user keeps the private key in the computer/hard disk as a token or pass and it can be accessed using the password issued.
While transferring the information user uses both the keys to decrypt and encrypt the information. The authentication process will fail if any one of the keys mismatch. So it gives the highest security level and cant be accessed when an unauthorized user tries to log in.
